Tien is a musician from Easton, Maryland, USA. His songs come from his experience as a citizen of the world, with influences ranging from Bossa Nova to Hindustani classical music and West African blues, all built on a love of R&B and soul grooves. His parents started him on violin lessons at the age of six. His mother was a singer and zither player trained in traditional Vietnamese music. With the love of music instilled in him from an early age, Tien learned to play some guitar, bass, flute, and keys. He started writing his own songs as a philosophy student in college. Over the past decade, he has lived mainly between the U.S., Brazil, and Bulgaria. He has circumnavigated the globe twice, making original music with his friends in these three countries.
