P U N C T U A L

Punctual is Will Lansley and John Morgan, a bubbling electronic music duo with a gift for energetic, party-starting club tracks. Their October 2020 single ‘I Don’t Wanna Know’ broke the top 100 in the UK with over 50 million streams across platforms, one of many vibesy house tunes in their rapidly growing catalogue that also includes “Do It All Again” (feat. Jordan Shaw) which has surpassed 48 million streams. Punctual have seen waves of specialist support from Zane Lowe and Apple Music’s Beats1, Radio 1’s Party Anthems, and BBC DJs Pete Tong and Phil Taggart. Outside of Punctual John and Will are prolific collaborators, having produced and written with Raye, Clean Bandit, Joel Corry, Steve Aoki, Nathan Dawe, Jason Derulo, Sleepwalkrs, Rudimental, and Eli Brown.

John and Will met as teenagers after both falling in love with music production. Growing up in Newbury, a small English town about 70 miles west of London, the pair bonded as two of the only kids in the area who were into drum and bass. Introduced by a mutual friend, they were soon making beats together on Fruity Loops, forming a partnership that would later see them DJing at clubs and house parties while at university in Bristol.

Both played musical instruments while growing up. After being bought one by his parents, Will learned to play the cornet while at primary school, though he always hated it. Eventually, he learned the drums too. John played the french horn in an orchestra, but his most formative musical memory is sitting in his older brother’s bedroom begging him to play REM’s classic feel-good single ‘Shiny Happy People’ again and again. Like Will, John grew up to an eclectic soundtrack, listening to 90s rock bands like the Red Hot Chill Peppers, Nirvana, Incubus, and Weezer, as well as hip-hop acts like Mos Def and A Tribe Called Quest. Both cite Radiohead as their favourite artists.

As they matured, their tastes continued to diversify. Hearing Pendulum for the first time was life-changing, inspiring both of them to try making their own drum and bass. Over time that morphed into an interest in house and techno, sounds that influenced both of them as they started DJing and developed their own signature style.
