Canadian musician/DJ Bensley exists at the place where art meets electronic music. A captivating blend of lush, haunting arrangements and crisp production outline the basis of his music, glowing with unmistakable dancefloor potential. It’s Bensley’s eclectic style and intricate sound design that set him apart from his peers – a myriad of soundscapes that define a unique listening experience with each release. The Bensley project is vibrant and diverse, covering a vast spectrum of genres including drum & bass, breaks, trap, jazz, pop and the wider electronic music sphere. At the age of 19 with no previous releases, Bensley, real name Peter Bennett, sent a demo to Andy C’s label RAM Records and was signed exclusively soon after. He exploded onto the dance music scene in 2015 with an album that turned heads, going on to receive critical acclamation throughout both press and radio. With radio support from the likes of Zane Lowe, Mistajam & Friction, his debut release ‘Fandango’ made its mark and secured Bensley a spotlight that would cultivate an illustrious career in electronic music. His music has since accrued support from the likes of Zeds Dead, Jauz, Netsky, Noisia & Sub Focus. As an accomplished saxophonist influenced by jazz pioneers like Dave Brubeck & CharlieParker, it’s clear to see how Bensley’s wide range of influence and strong classical foundation allow him to flourish in electronic music. His compositions capture the essence of everything that's exciting in drum & bass and beyond. Instantly resonating - yet sounding like nothing you've heard before - each of his productions conveys a contemporary energy and dynamic that's immediately distinctive. Bensley has become a pinnacle part of leftfield DJ sets and symbolizes the next generation of electronic musicians. He’s solidified his style through numerous impressive single releases including ‘Tiptoe’, ‘Outsider’& ‘Slither’,as well as official remixes for heavyweights FluxPavilion, Camo & Krooked and Delta Heavy. As a touring DJ, he’s headlined shows acrossEurope, Australia, New Zealand, South Africa & Canada as well as performing at world-renowned festivals like Tomorrowland & Let It Roll. In 2019, Bensley released his long-awaited sophomore album ‘Muskoka’, titled after the region of lush forests and lakes in Ontario, Canada. Inspired by a lifetime of summers spent here, Bensley showcased the evolution of his sound in acclaimed singles ‘Kilauea’, ‘One Last Chance Ft. Skyelle (Remix)’, and ‘Hard Times ft. Emer Dineen’. As ‘Muskoka’ marks the end of his exclusive period at RAM Records, Bensley begins a new chapter in 2020 with a series of singles on Canadian dance music label Monstercat.
