Japanese progressive house tastemaker Shingo Nakamura takes us on a splendid and uplifting sonic voyage for Beatport’s Playlist of the Week.

My name is Shingo Nakamura. I am a DJ, producer, and musician from Japan. I am frequently playing live shows in Japan, especially Tokyo. I also love playing in the US and comparing the sounds and styles the different cultures prefer. 2023 has been a wonderful year for me. I got to play with my hero BT at Monstercat Silk Showcase, joined Marsh for his Japanese tour, and am playing at Tomorrowland. Next time you are in Japan please come say hello at one of my shows.

For curating my live shows, I play many songs from Europe, US, and Asia. Anjuna, Monstercat Silk, and Otographic are some of my go-to labels for the development of my set. I love playing long shows. I start with emotional songs to create a moment with the audience. Then, I transition to songs they can dance and smile to.

The songs I have selected are ones I perform often. I hope your fans will enjoy them for your own sets too.

Shingo Nakamura – Wherever You Go (Extended Mix) [Monstercat]
This is my newest release. The vocal is from the incredible Richard Walters. I debuted it live at Monstercat Silk Showcase in Seattle. I created an energetic track to go along with the powerful vocals.
Tomb, LAR – Trails (Original Mix) [Monstercat]
LAR is one of my favorite artists these days. Very chill and beautiful track. I love the organic vibes.
Estiva, Jess Ball – Carnal Emotion (Extended Mix) [Colorize (Enhanced)]
This is one song that I always use in my recent DJing. The combination of the beautiful female vocals and the groovy track by Estiva is just perfect.
Shingo Nakamura – Foggy Morning (Extended Mix) [Monstercat]
This is my song released this year. It has an organic and progressive sound, and I love the hypnotic arpeggios. I often play it in clubs.
Simon Doty, Marsh – Touch The Sky (Extended Mix) [Anjunadeep]
The track is energetic, but the Marsh-like arpeggios neutralize it, making it highly addictive and soothing.
Farius, Tea Petrovic – Chemical Affair (Extended Mix) [Enhanced Progressive]
I love trance music, especially anything with a BPM in the 120’s, and I love the epic drop in this song by Farius.
Conures – Fresh (2bnsn Remix) [Housetribe Deep]
This song is a little-known HIDDEN GEM. It is a work by a Japanese artist. It has a tribal feel to it, and the epic break and drop are cool.
Above & Beyond – Surge (PROFF & Igor Garanin Remix) [Anjunadeep]
PROFF’s songs are characterized by a mysterious atmosphere, and although this song is a remix, you can enjoy his sound. It is dark but energetic.
ANUQRAM – Don’t Stop (Extended Mix) [Anjunabeats]
Their song “Get On” was released last year and is very fresh and club-friendly. This song is more club friendly and will definitely be played heavily.
Leaving Laurel – fireflies (for as far as we could see) (Extended Mix) [Anjunadeep]
I love their beautiful and sad sound. The piano melody is especially impressive on this song. It fits perfectly with a summer night.
